Many Black women of childbearing age are affected by certain diseases of the reproductive system. They are often undiagnosed and under-treated. RSP seeks to inform and support women in our community by providing relevant reproductive health information and resources for critical knowledge and advocacy solutions.

It is important to have a trusting relationship with your healthcare provider. You should feel comfortable asking questions and sharing what is happening with you and your body.

What you need to know:

  • One out of three Black Women either have or will be diagnosed with clinically recognized fibroids
  • Black women have a higher rate of infertility than non-Hispanic white women and the rate is steadily increasing
  • Cervical cancer is now practically preventable, however, Black women are still dying disproportionately from this type of cancer.
  • Black women are more likely to be diagnosed at an earlier age and are 40% more likely to die of breast cancer than white women.
