Many Black women of childbearing age are affected by diseases of the reproductive system. They are often undiagnosed and undertreated. RSP seeks to inform and support women in our community by providing relevant reproductive health information and resources for critical knowledge and advocacy solutions.

It is important to have a trusting relationship with your healthcare provider. You should feel comfortable asking questions and sharing what is happening with you and your body.

What you need to know:

  • One out of three Black Women either have or will be diagnosed with clinically recognized fibroids.
  • Black women have a higher rate of infertility than non-Hispanic white women, and the rate is steadily increasing.
  • Cervical cancer is over 90% preventable; however, Black women are still dying disproportionately from this type of cancer.
  • Black women are more likely to be diagnosed at an earlier age and are 40% more likely to die of breast cancer than white women.
